More grief for Take Two Interactive, Rockstar games and the Grand Theft Auto titles. First up, the Haitian pressure group has decided to drop its federal lawsuit against the company in order to pursue a state lawsuit; apparently the state court offers a less lenient approach to freedom-of-speech rights.
The Haitian pressure group's beef relates to a moment in the game when you're told to "kill all the Haitians" - this is very clearly a reference to a Haitian gang of criminals, rather than the people of Haiti as a whole.
The fun doesn't stop there; Democratic presidential candidate Joe Lieberman has been weighing in on the GTA series, calling it "horrendous" and singling out the fact that you can beat women up in the game and are in fact rewarded for doing so.
Democrats? Aren't those guys supposed to be the liberals? Still, we guess that if the prospective future President of the US really has no more pressing matters to concern himself with than a few nasty videogames, we can all sleep easy in our beds. Right Joe?
Oh well. Looking on the bright side for Take Two, at least this latest sensational outrage will probably shift a few more copies of the games.
