Prepare to hit the beaches soldier, as according to reports on the Internet work is currently underway on an expansion pack for Infinity Ward's exceptional WWII shooter Call of Duty. The expansion is apparently going by the name United Offensive.
Call of Duty: United Offensive is apparently due in the Autumn and is being developed by Gray Matter. Gray Matter, you will recall, was responsible for the single-player portion of Return to Castle Wolfenstein as was working on PC and Xbox shooter Trinity before it got canned.
United Offensive will offer three separate single-player campaigns with US recruits facing a massive German counter-offensive in the Battle of the Bulge, while Soviet players will become embroiled in the war's largest tank battle in the bitter fight for the Russian city of Kursk.
However, the third British campaign has been classified "Top Secret" and is being kept firmly under wraps, at least for the moment.
Still with three entirely new campaigns to explore, WWII specialists Gray Matter on board and what we hope will be a raft of new multiplayer components and weaponry, United Offensive already sounds like it's well capable of delivering the kind of goods CoD vets demand.
Activision responded with "no comment" when queried about United Offensive earlier today, but we'll let you know as soon as we hear more.
