And Dawn of Souls is...

Square Enix's recent patent turns out to be a Final Fantasy sub-header rather than a new franchise

It appears that the mysterious new Dawn of Souls name is merely to be used as the tentative subtitle for the European GBA version of Final Fantasy I & II Advance, following recent speculation that it could have possibly been a new Square Enix franchise.

The reason for this extended labelling is reportedly to reference the new material, which includes a new chapter due to feature in the handheld remakes of the classic NES RPGs. Why Square Enix patented the name under various merchandising categories though remains a mystery.

Final Fantasy I & II Advance: Dawn of Souls is due to release on December 10, as you may have noticed on yesterday's pre-Christmas release schedule from Nintendo.
