Although we've already seen it at EGN, Eidos has now officially announced Project: Snowblind, a new gadget-orientated FPS from its US development house Crystal Dynamics.
Set in a futuristic Hong Kong in the year 2065, Snowblind casts you as second Lieutenant Nathan Frost who is transformed by bio-enhancements into a super soldier for the Liberty Coalition. When a military coup leaves Frost stranded deep behind enemy lines, he takes charge of a small band of fellow soldiers, who must fight to destroy the offending militia's secret weapon, which threatens to plunge the world into a new age of darkness.
Okay, so perhaps it's not the most original premise in the world, but hey, we only need the flimsiest of excuses to indulge in some good old fashioned bio-enhanced blasting; and as you'll see from the bargain 11.3Mb movie and this first selection of screens, Project: Snowblind appears to have that in abundance.
In fact Crystal is tagging the game as one which will add more depth and variety to the genre and John Chowanec, Snowblind's producer said: "Project: Snowblind makes dynamic usage of high tech gadgetry and futuristic weapons in combat situations. This, combined with 16 player online action, will no doubt bring about a frenetic gameplay experience that gamers will want to experience. Project: Snowblind is the answer for those longing for a non-stop, action-packed ride."
You'll have a chance to judge for yourselves soon enough as Project: Snowblind is scheduled for release on PC, PS2 and Xbox before the end of the year.
