Revenge of the Sith exerts dark influence on DS and PSP

Handheld platforms to feel the force in new movie deal

So it's force powers at the ready and a chance to twirl your lightsaber in anticipation this afternoon, as Ubisoft announces a deal with LucasArts to develop games for the PSP and DS based on the upcoming Episode III movie, Revenge of the Sith.

For more traditionalist wielders of the force a GBA version is also promised. Not too many other details as yet, although Ubi promises each game will play to the strengths of its individual platform, but there's apparently going to be multiple character control, devastating force powers and never-before-seen Star Wars locations when all three launch alongside the movie in spring 2005.

"Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith will be the video game that every handheld gaming fan on the planet will enjoy playing - including those of the epic Star Wars series," said Alain Corre, Ubisoft's managing director for Europe, Middle East and Asia. "This ultimate Jedi action game will astound gamers using the new handheld technology from Sony's PSP and the Nintendo DS. As always, it's a pleasure to pursue our partnership with LucasArts, particularly with such a hot license."
