McRae 2005 PSP screens power-slide in

And spurt lots of mud, naturally

Codemasters Colin McRae Rally 2005 on PSP is apparently "perfect for gaming on the go" and very possibly on the toilet as well. Squeezed into the handheld version are numerous modes, cars, tracks and multiplayer for up to eight players via Wi-Fi. First screenshots from this mini petrol-powered marvel have been released.

Rally stages in McRae 2005 are of varying lengths, meaning you can spend anything from five minutes and upward tearing up the dirt, the game automatically saving changes to your best times and/or championship progress. Which we suppose is quite handy really.

Career Mode features challenges, cups, supercups, shields and championships, which is joined by 4WD Championship, Rally and Stages modes. And tackle the beast that is Career Challenge and you'll take on 23 drivers over 300-plus stages in cars including 4-wheel drive, 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel Classics, Super 2-wheel, Rear Wheel, Distinctive and 4x4.

Codemasters says that over 30 cars are fully simulated in McRae 2005 on PSP, all using the series' trademark handling physics, with the vehicles present including the Audi A3 3.2 Quattro, Ford MK1 Escort, Subaru 44S WRX, Volkswagen Beetle Rsi, Lancia Stratos, Toyota Celica GT 4, Mitsubishi Shogun Montero, Alfa Romeo Alfetta and Mitsubishi Evolution VIII.
