Marvel's The Fantastic Four might not be bathed is as much cool as fellow superhero team-up crew The X-Men, but an in-production film due this year based on the comic book has guaranteed a movie tie-in videogame - which is being handled by Activision. First screenshots from Mr Fantastic's, The Invisible Girl's, The Thing's and The Human Torch's action-adventure fight against crime have materialised.
The Fantastic Four's storyline runs along similar lines to the movie's plot (apparently we can expect to see additional unique environments and follow game-exclusive plot sections too), which in a nutshell finds the superhero team battling villains and ultimately attempting to thwart the machinations of Doctor Doom and rescue the human race from disaster. No pressure there then.
Crusaders for liberty and justice will be able to play through the main story in either single-player or two-player co-op mode. In control of the team, you can switch between characters and as such employ each of The Fantastic Four's special powers - for example body contortion, stretching and mind powers, invisibility and telekinesis, mastery of fire and pure brute strength.
Puzzles and obstacles to overcome accompany the action and Mr Fantastic, The Invisible Girl, The Thing and The Human Torch can also combine powers to produce lethal attacks and accomplish - presumably rather tough - objectives.
And should you feel the need to clobber each other senseless in a blaze of superpower glory, it's said players will be able to go head-to-head in multiple arena battles.
The Fantastic Four is expected to swoop in this summer on PS2, Xbox and GameCube.
