Far Cry Instincts, the console version of the best-selling PC FPS set on stunning paradise islands, has been tagged with a September release date by publisher Ubisoft.
Interestingly, Ubisoft has decided not to confirm what platforms the game will be available for. PS2 and Xbox versions were initially planned, but this new reticence has us wondering if Mr. Sony's version is for the chop. A spokesperson from Ubisoft declined to comment on this.
Platform worries aside, Ubi promise Far Cry Instincts will be a "technologically advanced gaming experience" that uses the clever features of the PC version to allow gorgrous outdoor environments with staggering draw distances. It won't be exactly the same as the PC version either - new and improved set-pieces and sequences will be included and we're told you'll be able to take advantage of a whole host of new strategies and tactics.
"In Far Cry Instincts players will become the Ultimate Predator," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing for Ubisoft, "as they are forced to outlast the wilderness hell and unleash every imaginable survival tactic and skill."
Far Cry Instincts will be on the showfloor at E3 next month so we'll bring you hands-on impressions then. For the moment take a look at our lovely new screens.
