In what can only be an act of witchcraft, we've got a trailer each for the new Castlevania games, Dawn of Sorrows (DS) and Curse of Darkness (PS2).
With its impressive animé-styled intro sequence, Dawn of Sorrows is set to continue the tradition of challenging 2D sidescrollers on Nintendo's pocket system, after the success of both Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow on the GBA. It follows the tale of grey-haired hero Soma Cruz on his cruzade (AHAH!) to stop a mysterious cult from ressurecting the Dark Lord Dracula. The dual screens are used to display the neccessary RPG-centric information on the top screen, with the action taking place on the lower screen, including some touch-screen tomfoolery to gain access to secret areas.
Sporting a Devil May Cry-esque swordfighting fetish, Curse of Darkness is centered around the "devil forgemaster" Hector, a former lieutenant of Dracula himself, who leaves the evil bloodsucker behind him as he begins to lose faith in his ideals - a vampyric midlife crisis, if you will. Sporting gorgeous 3D graphics and an all new set of evolving allies who add to your abilities, this is shaping up to be the coolest 3D Castlevania yet.
Both of them will be available hopefully by the end of the year.
