Nintendo has finally slapped an official UK release date on its 'dog sim' Nintendogs, delivering the virtual pet to households on October 7.
The game lets you raise and rear a puppy from new born, with the DS's voice recognition and stylus facilities enabling you to interact with the perisher until its little heart is content.
There will be three different editions available to European consumers - Labrador Retriever, Miniature Dachshund and Chihuahua - each of which offer a choice of six different breeds of puppies. Three of these breeds - the Golden Retriever, Siberian Husky and Boxer - are completely exclusive to the European version.
Clearly Nintendogs is very much a next-gen advance on the old Tamagotchi craze that swept the country about 10 years ago. It's great fun, amazingly interactive and really is a lot like owning a pet minus the pooping, ruined furniture, Pedigree Chum breath and clumps of irremovable hair that tend to nestle behind the sofa cushions.
Look out for it soon, priced at around 30 pounds.
