Codemasters has announced that its Xbox military shooter Operation Flashpoint: Elite has gone gold and is out on October 28, meaning it's one of those rare occasions when the release of a game is actually brought forward. We were originally expecting to see it materialise in November, see.
Elite is an adaptation of the original Operation Flashpoint on PC and deals with a Cold War conflict between a renegade Soviet Red army faction and US forces. Realism and accuracy is big bananas in this game with players engaging in both infantry and vehicular combat in massive battlegrounds. Two main campaigns are joined by an additional 15-mission unlockable campaign and there's solid Xbox Live support with co-op and team-based multiplayer modes.
