We've come a long way since the console debut of Mortal Kombat on SNES and Megadrive back in the day - with the series reaching dizzy heights with Mortal Kombat: Deception and pitiful spine-shattering lows with spin-off adventure Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Now though, Midway has announced that it's ready to sign off the long-running franchise, for the current-gen at least, with the release of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon this autumn.
To celebrate the series' legacy, Armageddon is set to feature every character from the Mortal Kombat universe, rumoured to total around sixty fighters in all, alongside a special Create-A-Fighter mode. If making your own muscle mountain wasn't enough though, Midway's also slinging in a Create-A-Fatality mode and a brand new Konquest mode, whatever that is.
Also on the cards is Mortal Kombat: Unchained for the PSP, sporting multiple fatalities per character, multi-tiered interactive backgrounds, six new fighters, a brand new Endurance mode and head-to-head Wi-Fi capabilities.
While we await the games' arrival later this year, we've got a whole bunch of screens and a movie from Mortal Kombat: Armageddon to smack into a quivering pulp with your eyeballs.
