Don't you just love it when leaked major magazine articles release great chunks of exciting news ahead of their sell dates? We do, especially when such news regards WarioWare Wii games and interactive Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess sword fighting.
According to reports, the latest issue of America's Time magazine, not due on sale until May 15, features a whopping great piece on the Nintendo Wii. In it, the journalist reportedly delights in waving about the console's nunchuaku-like controller during a Shigeru Myamoto-hosted preview of Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess (a GameCube title with Wii funcitonality):
"Now I'm Errol Flynn, sword fighting with the controller, then aiming a bow and arrow, then using it as a fishing rod, reeling in a stubborn virtual fish."
The journalist then goes on to talk about two previously unannounced Wii games. First up is a next-gen WarioWare title. While its name isn't given, an entertaining glimpse into its gameplay is:
"In one hot minute, I use the controller to swat a fly, do squat-thrusts as a weight lifter, turn a key in a lock, catch a fish, drive a car, sauté some vegetables, balance a broom on my outstretched hand, color in a circle and fence with a foil...And yes, dance the hula."
Then came a nameless tennis game: "The controller becomes a racket, and I'm smacking forehands and stroking backhands," the reporter has reportedly enthused. "The sensors are fine enough that you can scoop under the ball to lob it, or slice it for spin. At the end, I don't so much put the controller down as have it pried from my hands."
All in all, a pretty important preview of the impact that the Wii's innovative controller could have on gaming. Expect plenty more on all this from E3...
