THQ has signed up much-loved character-actor Anthony Head to voice one of the lead characters in Destroy All Humans! 2.
Head - renowned for playing the bumbling Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Blair-like Prime Minister in Little Britain (as well starring in a Gold Blend ad campaign) - will provide the voice for Ponsonby, the human head of MI5, who helps the alien leaders Crypto and Pox fight against the KGB - although it seems that as the game progresses, Ponsoby turns out not to be who he initially appears to be.
Richard Williams, THQ UK's head of marketing, said: "we needed a voice that created an extra dimension and enhanced his upper-class Englishness but hinted at a touch of deceit. Anthony Head has a wealth of acting experience and was the obvious choice. He brought Ponsonby alive in a very unique way."
Destroy All Humans! 2 will be set in the 1960s (the original game was set in the 1950s) and is due to ship before the end of the year (no precise release date has yet been announced) on Xbox and PS2. Sounds like it's going to be at least as much of a rib-tickler as the original game - Anthony Head has thoroughly demonstrated his considerable abilities as a comedy actor.
