id Software - that of Doom and Wolfenstein 3D fame - is looking to bring more of its retro backlog to Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade, after the recent release of its classic shooter, Doom on the service.
"We're looking at bringing some of the other games to XBLA, but a lot is going to depend on the response to DOOM," said id CEO Todd Hollenshead, speaking to Firing Squad. "From what MS tells us, it's been fantastic so far, which bodes well for other id 'classics' to be released there. But there's nothing concrete," he added.
Excellent news for shooter fans then. A quick poll around the office heads politically incorrect blaster, Shadow Warrior and Quake II multiplayer as top-canditates for Live Arcade re-jiggering, but as Hollenshead notes, id's keeping its own selections top-secret: "Making the surprise announcement at X06 for DOOM worked out great, so I'll be tight lipped about anything specific for now."
