Assassin's Creed garrottes the 'net

New screenshots and more from Ubisoft's impressive assassin-'em'-up emerge as official website launches

We're salivating over Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Why? Well, to tell the truth the game is dripping gorgeousness and promising to deliver an experience that we'd truly expect from the new console generation. You only have to see the gameplay footage that stealthed its way out of Microsoft's recent X06 event to understand why we're quite so excited about this title.

Anyway, the official Assassin's Creed website has launched and features the likes of wallpapers, screensavers, trailers, game info and screenshots we've not seen before - although unfortunately the screenshots are quite tiny, the ability to enlarge them broken at the time of writing.

Set in 1191 AD and the time of the Third Crusade, Assassin's Creed finds you playing Altair, an assassin attempting to halt hostilities in the Holy Land by suppressing both sides caught up in the conflict.
