Microsoft is kicking up a bit of an Xbox Live controversy this morning, as it revealed that Xbox Live Gold members will get download content before the regular Silver crew are allowed access.
This new practice of 'Gold over Silver' started yesterday with the release of a new Gears of War cinematic trailer which for now, only Xbox Live Gold members can access.
Commenting on the trailer's Gold-only availability, Microsoft's own Larry 'Major Nelson' Hyrb said: "So here is the deal... Silver members WILL get access to this... probably in about a week. This is going to happen more and more (Gold getting things before Silver) so you may want to think about upgrading if you want all the latest and greatest trailers, demos etc."
So there you have it - Microsoft's isn't a free party anymore.
This news will likely cause much hoo-hah over the next 12 months, especially as Sony has announced that its PlayStation 3 online service will offer online gaming and downloads with no fees attached.
