Highly-respected games mag Edge has revealed the winners of its 2006 Edge Awards, with Final Fantasy and Nintendo's Wii championing the list of winners.
In a surprise win Square Enix's Final Fantasy XII received the mag's Best Game award, following the nine out of ten review where Edge called the RPG "a work of progressive genius."
"Final Fantasy XII has astonished everyone's who's played it, with its beauty, its technical excellence and - most surprisingly for such an old game series - its innovative approach," said Edge editor Margaret Robertson. "All in all it's been a year of surprises, with Nintendo's bold new strategy netting them hardware, software and innovation awards."
The Edge Awards issue goes on sale Thursday, 21st December. The full award winners can be found below:
