It's hard imagine, but next weekend we'll no longer be able to play the Halo 3 mutliplayer beta. For CVG, it means certain members of the team will be able to get some work done, but for everyone else the long wait for September 26 begins.
But before you crack out the Coldplay and get all depressed, here's seven things to get out of the way before the beta doors close and you're left with Shadowrun.
With the assistance of another player and a couple of Brute shots, you can traverse plenty of rocks and buildings you were never supposed to see the tops of. The classic is the tree hopping trick in Highground, but you can also get half way to the top of the bases in Valhalla. Watch this awesome YouTube video for a few ideas.
PUT A WARTHOG ON THE MAN CANNON
We've all had the urge. You're tearing passed the enemy base in Valhalla with a fully-manned Warthog, and you just glimpse that glowing man cannon in the corner of your eye, inviting you to tear full speed through the middle of it. Bonus points if you can land the correct way up.
GRAVITY LIFT A MONGOOSE
Rubbish to hopping over walls; sending unsuspecting Mongoose drivers 10ft in the air is the real purpose of the Gravity Lift. It lives just at the bottom of the rock arch on the left of the map. If you manage to lay it in front of a pursuing vehicle we guarantee the most hilarious kill you've ever bagged - plus you can ride it mechanical bull style on the lift after.
FLY TO THE MOON
Here's a trick you'll probably only be able to pull in the beta - push a Banshee into the water on Valhalla and you can use a nearby rock to hop over the invisible wall, allowing you to fly way, way up in the sky. The trick is probably best explained by this YouTube video, and when pulled off you can skydive right back down to earth - and live.
DISCOVER THE CUSTOM GAME LOBBY
Easily the greatest glitch in the multiplayer beta is this one that lets you cheekily access the custom game lobby. You'll need eight friends to do it, and you'll need to follow these instructions, but you'll be more than rewarded with full map and game mode options, access to the new pistol and plasma sword and some awesome gravity tweaking. Have fun.
GET A KILLTACULAR
Previously known as the killfrenzy, the Killtacular is rewarded to players for dispatching four opponents in quick succession. Only truly skilful players (or jammy gits) can say they've racked one of these babies up in their post-game summary, and to get one this early on in Halo 3's life is an even more impressive achievement. If you're a nerd.
SHOOT A BANSHEE OUT OF THE SKY
There's real kudos for anyone who can pull this off. With the aid of the Plasma Pistol's new vehicle disabling ability (it needs to be fully charged before firing), shoot a banshee out of the sky. A single shot will bring it down like a ton of concrete potatoes, and to not corpse hump your charged victim would be a sin.
