Ubisoft has finally confirmed the release date for its swashbuckling stab-em-up Assassin's Creed; it will be launching worldwide on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.
It has of course been in development for several years now, and looks almost as good as its ridiculously attractive producer Jade Raymond, who's unashamedly donned on the CVG office wall.
Both standard and limited edition versions of the game will be available at launch in the US, the former retailing for £49.99 (according to GAME) and the later yet to be confirmed for release in Europe, Ubisoft told CVG this morning.
The LE version is set to sport an Altair figurine, Penny Arcade comic, mini strategy guide and bonus disc with behind-the-scenes videos and interviews.
"Assassin's Creed is going to be a huge launch for Ubisoft this year along with the added prestige of being the start of this exciting new franchise that is bringing something completely new to the market," said Tony Key, Ubisoft's VP of marketing. "We're confident that Assassin's Creed will exceed expectations as a 'must-have' title this holiday season and will achieve both critical and commercial success."
Prince of Persia-style platforming looks incredible in gameplay demonstrations, but we're hearing whispers the combat isn't quite so impressive. We'll find out for ourselves how the near-final game plays when E3 rolls around next month.
