Gearbox coughs up Borderlands trailer

60 seconds of the Gearbox sci-fi shooter with the "groundbreaking content generation system"

Eyes at the ready for the first teaser trailer from Gearbox's Borderlands, it's sci-fi shooter with vehicle combat and four-player co-op support.

One of the major features of the game is what's being billed as a "groundbreaking content generation system".

The weaponry in Borderlands, for example, is generated by an algorithm that combines types of barrel, grip, clip, ammo and attachments to make your weapon different from anything anyone else has.

Gearbox claims the final game should have around 500,000 different types out there. Crikey.

Borderlands is currently pencilled in for an end-of-2008 release. It's in development for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
