Namco nabs Dr. Kawashima off Nintendo

Popular Brain Training prof. to face new Namco mobile phone game

Brain Training has sold millions on DS and is making Nintendo shed loads of cash, so it comes as no surprise that Namco Bandai has jumped on the opportunity to use the now famous polygonal face of Dr. Kawashima for a new mobile game.

Namco is currently at work on a new brain-flexing title for mobile phones to be faced by Nintendo's new star professor.

The new Brain Coach with Dr Kawashima was apparently "scientifically tested at a leading university in Japan" for its brain-stimulating properties, and is due out before the end of the year over in Japan.

Namco says the game will stick to daily training format, similar to the DS training games. "The formula of this application has already proven successful by establishing a base of millions of Nintendo DS players worldwide, and with Dr Kawashima's approval we are pleased to bring this official mobile game to the larger mass of mobile phone users," said Namco Bandai MD, Masaji Okubo.

"Players are now presented a new and scientifically proven series of fun brain training challenges that actually help activate different parts of the brain" he adds, without specifying any of the mini-games.

Namco is yet to announce a western launch, but you can put big cash on it coming over here at some point next year, unless it only works on some uber, hovering, super phone that's only out in Japan.
