The Wavebird looks to be a thing of the past as Nintendo confirms it won't be supplying retailers with the GameCube peripheral anymore.
A Nintendo customer service rep is reported to have confirmed that Nintendo is no longer restocking shops with the legendary controller.
The Wavebird brought wireless play to the GameCube way back in 2002 and had been enjoying a renaissance on the Wii as an alternative to the classic controller for Virtual Console titles.
It had also been tipped as a favourite for the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
The customer service representative did say Nintendo would still sell the Wavebird directly, but as we couldn't find a listing on the online Nintendo store, we recommend Smash Bros. enthusiasts try eBay now before prices sky-rocket.
