Rockstar Games has responded to yesterday's report that a Hollywood-produced Grand Theft Auto movie was almost a "done deal" last spring.
Apparently, movie paper Variety and other publications were about to tell the world about the movie tie-in deal before it fell through at the last minute.
Rockstar boss Dan Houser has since shot down the report though, telling MTV that the deal in question "was no more interesting that the others we receive."
"Some movie producers were trying to put something together to entice us to make a movie, as studios and production teams frequently have done in the past," said Houser.
"We never entertained proceeding with the project... Rockstar was not involved in this project in any way, shape or form... It [a GTA movie] is not something we are currently interested in."
Looking at the state of game to movie conversions, we don't blame Rockstar for being careful... especially if Hollywood had Eminem lined up.
