Sega has confirmed that it will be publishing Alpha Protocol, an all-new espionage role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment, for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Set in the modern world, players will assume the role of agent Michael Thorton. Cast out by his government and possessing information that could stop an impending international catastrophe, Thorton must work to save the future.
Sega and Obsidian promise that the decisions made in game will ultimately transform the type of secret agent Thorton will become, which should ease the fears of those who got in a stinker about having to indulge in a bit of Bond-like sexism when we first reported the game last week.
"Alpha Protocol blends Obsidian's knack for intricate stories, engrossing characters, and significant character advancement with fast-paced modern combat," said Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment.
"Alpha Protocol embraces everything we enjoy about making RPGs from a fresh perspective. We are confident our talented staff at Obsidian will enable us to deliver this exciting RPG experience."
Sounds promising, and considering both Chris Avellone (Planescape: Torment) and Brian Mitsoda (Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines) are working on it, we've got high hopes. Let's just hope there's an intensive QA session before release.
