New MMO follows Conan's lead

Mortal Online to feature real-time combat, with Unreal Engine 3 tech powering away under the hood

Mortal Online is a new fantasy PC MMORPG that's following in the footsteps of Age of Conan by featuring real-time combat.

It's in development at Star Vault AB, which has opted to use Epic's Unreal Engine 3 tech to power the game.

"Mortal Online is a next generation PC MMORPG both in terms of graphics and gameplay. There are no PvP zones, only an open realistic world where you are free to choose your own path. Experience true real-time combat where you decide every move your character makes and where your personal skill really matters", the developer says.

Judging by further word from Star Vault AB, the studio's aiming to create a gritty game world meaning we're expecting something along the lines of The Witcher here.

"Unreal Engine 3 is our weapon of choice, and together with Grome and Speedtree we are able to make our vision a reality: a world of detailed characters, realistic terrain, lifelike creatures and intricate detail all coming together to immerse you visually", it adds about the tech it's employing.

No screenshots have been released as yet, but we've uploaded a teaser trailer into our video player so take a look at that.
