Those of you eagerly awaiting Valve's big update for Team Fortress 2 will be glad to hear it's gone live.
If you've managed to miss the news previously on the update - which is free - it introduces a new map Gold Rush (which debuts a new gameplay mode) and unlockable weapons for the Medic that are obtained by successfully completing achievements for the class.
The unlockable weapons system will be rolled out for the other TF2 classes in the future.
"Since Valve released Team Fortress Classic nine years ago this month as a free add-on for Half-Life owners, Valve has continuously looked for new ways to support the players of its online games," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve.
"Following in that tradition, today owners of all PC versions of Team Fortress 2 will automatically receive a free update containing new gameplay, weapons, and achievements by connecting to Steam, a platform built for gamers and creators of online games."
Valve's also opening up TF2 for free this weekend, from May 2 to May 4 (and we'll avoid making a really bad Star Wars-related joke about the latter date).
