It will come as no surprise, but it has been officially re-confirmed that Infinity Ward is working on Call of Duty 6 for release in 2009.
Activision CEO Mike Griffith confirmed at the recent a recent analyst day: "In 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, Call of Duty 6." Exactly what was said a month ago, then.
Activision operates on a "leapfrog strategy", which sees one game in the series launch each year with development alternating between series creator, Infinity Ward, and this year's developer Treyarch.
The fifth game in the series, Call of Duty: World at War, is being developed by Treyarch and will hit shelves on November 14.
Original developer Infinity Ward is also said to be working on sci-fi game and at least one "unique IP". Fingers crossed the sci-fi game isn't CoD...
