Age of Conan boss "dissatisfied", quits

Funcom co-founder has "decided to act", he says walking out the door

Funcom co-founder and game director Gaute Godage has quit the MMO developer because he's become "dissatisfied" with elements of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, he's said.

Speaking in the official press release no less, Godage said: "I have done my very best making this fabulous game, but I have concluded there are elements which I am dissatisfied with. I have decided to act on this, and as a result I have chosen to leave Funcom."

Godage will be replaced by Anarchy Online producer Craig Morrison, who will take on the game director position on the Conan MMO.

"It is time to get new, fresh eyes on Age of Conan, and I wholeheartedly support the appointment of Craig," Godage continued. "Funcom and Conan will always be a big part of me, but as I now look to new ventures outside the gaming industry I am certain Age of Conan's future is in the best of hands."

Hopefully the "elements" Mr. Godage is dissatisfied with will be revealed in a quickfire interview down the line, but for the moment we'll just be confused over the fact that it actually got good reviews. What's he bothered about?
