Fallout 3 ships 4.7 million copies

Representing more than $300 million in retail sales

Bethesda's keen to let us all know that Fallout 3's made a highly successful debut, which to be fair it has.

The company shipped around 4.7 million copies of the PS3, 360 and PC game to stores worldwide last week, representing retail sales of more than $300 million. How much of that shipment has actually been sold, the firm stopped short of saying. But you can bet it's a lot.

The RPG, which is set in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC, stormed the UK chart earlier this week after picking up sizzling reviews from the likes of Xbox World 360.

But is it better than Oblivion?
