Microsoft has boasted over the stellar performance of Xbox Live Arcade this year, and listed the next releases set to ring in 2009.
More than 60 games including Rez HD, the excellent Braid and Bionic Commando: Rearmed scored a metacritic rating of over 75 in 2008, says Microsoft, which it claims is an "industry-leading" score.
Apparently Xbox 360 owners have earned more than 1.25 billion (yes, BILLION) Gamerscore to date from Arcade games, and unlocked nearly 100 million Achievements.
Additionally, 110 million trial games have been downloaded from the service to date, stat fans.
"Momentum for Xbox Live Arcade has been incredible this year," said Microsoft's digital distribution boss Scott Austin. "Xbox Live Arcade has really become the top destination for premium downloadable games. And we've got a long list of games coming out in 2009 that we think will be just as incredible."
Lode Runner, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai, South Park, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, and R-Type Dimensions are among the Arcade releases set to ring in the new year, says MS.
Additionally, Puzzle Arcade, "the most expansive online jigsaw puzzle to ever hit Xbox 360", will be out this Wednesday for 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80). Just in case you don't get any real puzzles for Christmas.
Here's hoping 2009 can give us another Braid and Geometry Wars 2...
