Empire: Total War has debuted at the top of the UK all formats chart, becoming the fastest selling title in the series to date.
Having picked up glowing reviews, Empire also became the first PC exclusive chart-topper since Football Manager 2008 back in October 2007.
Last week's bestseller, Killzone 2, suffered a 58 percent drop in weekly sales, but it only missed out on the top spot by 1,600 units.
A 31 percent bump in sales saw Wii Fit move up one place to third, flight sim Tom Clancy's Hawx entered in fourth and Halo Wars slipped three spots to fifth.
