Redesigned PSP set for E3 unveiling?

New handheld, called PSP Go!, will drop UMD and introduce a sliding screen, says report

A new 'new PSP' report claims Sony will unveil PSP Go! At this year's E3 in June.

Citing developers working on the hardware revision, the report says the new PSP will drop UMD and introduce a sliding screen, but it'll keep the same button configuration as current models, meaning no dual analogue sticks for shooters.

1UP also says that the system will come in two SKUs, with either eight or 16 GB of built-in flash memory, when it debuts in Japan in September and later on in 2009 elsewhere.

Sony is also said to be preparing 100 classic and new PSP titles for download at launch, including Gran Turismo Mobile. Pack it with the new LittleBigPlanet and we'll be happy.

As expected Sony doesn't "comment on rumour or speculation". They must be as bored of saying that as we are of asking.
