Hoping to reinvigorate the Championship Manager franchise, Eidos will offer a downloadable PC version of the new footy management sim on a 'pay what you want' model allowing you to buy the full game from a penny, with a transaction fee of £2.50 on top of that.
It's a first for the games industry and it's a bit like the move made in 2008 by Radiohead with the launch of their album, In Rainbows.

"This is the best Championship Manager the studio has ever made and we want as many people as possible to try the full new game," said Championship Manager General Manager Roy Meredith.
"The 'pay what you want' promotion will run until midnight on September 10 - from which point users will be able to download their game purchase directly from www.championshipmanager.co.uk," says Eidos. "All fans need to pay is a £2.50 transaction fee plus any additional amount of their choice, starting from just a PENNY before the game will be available for full price from all good retailers. "
Sounds like a good deal to us. What say you?
