Warner Bros. forms DC Entertainment

Created to maximise the potential of DC properties across games

Warner Bros. Entertainment has announced the formation of DC Entertainment, a new company created to maximise the potential of DC properties across games, films and other media.

"DC Entertainment will be charged with strategically integrating the DC Comics business, brand and characters deeply into Warner Bros. Entertainment and all its content and distribution businesses," said the company.

The new division will be headed up by president Diane Nelson, who most recently served as president of Warner Premiere, a studio-based production company which develops and produces direct-to-DVD and short-form digital content. Nelson has also overseen the management of the Harry Potter brand since its launch at the studio in 1999, and will continue to do so in her new role.

"It's no secret that DC has myriad rich and untapped possibilities from its deep library of iconic and lesser-known characters," said Warner Bros. president & COO Alan Horn. "While we've had great success in films and television, the formation of DC Entertainment will help us to bring more DC properties across additional platforms to fans around the world, while maintaining brand integrity and authenticity."

The news comes shortly after the release of Warner's Batman: Arkham Asylum for PS3 and Xbox 360. The title has been well received by critics and consumers alike, topping the UK chart for the past two weeks.
