Warcraft, Starcraft veteran sets up new MMO firm

Patrick Wyatt becomes COO of En Masse

One of the creators of the Warcraft and Starcraft franchises has set up a new firm - which promises to cherry pick the best MMOs from the Far East and publish them for a Western audience.

Ex-Blizzard man Patrick Wyatt also wrote Diablo's multiplayer code, scaling up Battle.net, founded ArenaNet, developed Guild Wars and served as CTO of NCsoft. Not a bad CV, huh?

Wyatt becomes COO of En Masse Entertainment, a wholly owned subsidiary of leading Korean MMO company Bluehole Studio Inc.

The firm will be focused on 'selecting high quality online games and adapting, refining, and positioning them so they are perfectly suited for audiences in Western markets'.

The first official En Masse game scheduled for release in North America and Europe will be MMORPG PC title, TERA.

Joining Wyatt on En Masse's senior management team is ex-NCsoft and Eastern MMO expert Dr. Jae-Heon Yang, who serves as the newly-formed firm's CEO.

"We've brought together 'best of breed' experts in the fields of technology, online gaming, branding and localization who have a shared vision for global MMO games that deliver on the highest levels of quality and cultural relevance," said Yang.

"Our inaugural project, TERA, is one that we feel deeply passionate about and will reflect our approach and commitment to the Western gaming community."
