UK retail sources have told CVG that Microsoft's mighty Halo: Reach will arrive in September.
A worldwide release date of Tuesday, September 14th has been pencilled in by Microsoft, CVG understands - two months before Activision's Call Of Duty 7 is expected to land.
"It gives Halo enough time to maximise sales before CoD arrives," said one senior trade source. "Xbox 360 is pretty synonymous with Call Of Duty, so it makes commercial sense for Microsoft and Activision to agree both games won't come out too close to one another."
The information tallies with Microsoft's previous confirmation that the game will arrive in autumn.
A Microsoft spokesperson told CVG: "I can confirm that nothing has been announced around a release date for Halo: Reach."
