Castlevania: Lord of Shadow producer Dave Cox has revealed that Hideo Kojima "brought experience and wisdom to the project."
Kojima offered developer Mercury Steam advice on the creation of the Xbox 360 and PS3 game, which is due for release later this year.
"Frankly, the game wouldn't be as good without him," Cox told PSM3. "On a technical level, they've helped us with many things - with Gabriel and facial animation, design and more. I get videos from them highlighting issues, and that's really useful."
But the partnership is by no means a one way street, with Kojima holding the belief that he still has a lot to learn. "The most surprising thing [Kojima] told me was that he felt Mercury Steam could teach them some things about game development," added Cox.
"That's typical of Mr. Kojima; he's generous and he's always looking at ways to improve what he does. Having someone of his calibre helping is a once-in-a-lifetime chance that the Castlevania team is truly grateful for."
We reported on Dave Cox's view that Uncharted 2 doesn't have the impact on 3rd person adventure games that most give it credit for yesterday.
