God Of War 3 ending explained

SPOILERS: Game director discusses Kratos' possible demise

SPOLER ALERT: There, we've warned you twice. God Of War 3 director Stig Asmussen has discussed the ending of the game - and whether Kratos is really dead. It makes for interesting reading.

The ending of the epic adventure has left players scratching their heads over whether it means the end for antihero Kratos.

Speaking to the French Official PlayStation Magazine, Asmussen was non-committal on whether the protagonist had drawn his last breath - or whether he could one day return.

"At the end of the game, if we pay attention to the sound, we hear the breath of Kratos which is finally stopped," he said.

"Meanwhile, we also hear a laugh, a laugh of being relieved. To be honest, I don't know. It's an ending with an opening - I don't know if Athena will take him away, or someone else will, whether or not he is still alive."
