PES nets Copa Libertadores

Konami adds the South American Champions League license to its squad

Konami has secured the license for the Copa Santander Libertadores, essentially South America's version of the Champions League, for Pro Evolution Soccer.

All of the components of the club competition will be integrated into the series, although you may have to wait until the next game releases before you get a chance to play as Brazil and Argentina's finest.

"The Copa Santander Libertadores is one of the most influential and important international soccer competitions in the world," said Konami Digital Entertainment president Shinji Hirano.

"We always strive to make our sports titles as true to life as possible and with the exclusive rights to Copa Santander Libertadores, fans can expect to see their favourite teams and players on the roster in Pro Evolution Soccer titles."

Shame there's no word on a release date. For now you'll have to make do with the free PES 2010 DLC released earlier this week, which updated the existing team rosters.
