EA: 360 development will double Insomniac's sales

Publisher confident that Xbox owners will welcome Ratchet studio

EA has told CVG that it is confident Xbox 360 sales of Insomniac's first multiformat title will equal those on PlayStation 3.

Independent studio Insomniac has won fierce loyalty from PlayStation fans in its 16-year history - by creating platform-exclusive series such as Ratchet & Clank and Resistance.

However, EA Partners boss David DeMartini told CVG that the publisher believes Xbox 360 owners will buy Insomniac's first multiplatform title in droves - doubling the sales of its previous smashes.

"I think two of the biggest value-drivers for independent developers are IP ownership and the opportunity to develop on multiplatforms," he said.

"Previously Insomniac has only been on the Sony platform, and they'll continue to be on the Sony platform.

"But hopefully in partnership with us, they'll be able to take it out to at least twice as many gamers as their other games have enjoyed - both by working with us and expanding onto [the Xbox 360]."

Resistance and Ratchet & Clank will remain PlayStation-only franchises - as the IP for both is owned by Sony.
