Sony/Square sued over FFXIII bricking PS3s

Defendents allegedly blaming each other

Sony Computer Entertainment and Square Enix are being sued over allegations that Final Fantasy XIII is crashing and permanently bricking PS3 consoles.

Daniel Wolf of San Diego claims that his copy of Square's RPG rendered his machine inoperable after he tried to save his campaign progress and his console crashed. The lawsuit claims that the game has been causing "severe and widespread damage" to PS3s, and seeks over $5 million in damages and various financial relief.

It goes on: "Both Defendants are eminently aware of the damage being cause by their defective products, and have chosen to do nothing about it."

Neither Sony or Square are willing to talk about the lawsuit bug the suit claims that both Sony and Square have blamed each other for the fault, Square saying it's the cause of faulty PS3s and Sony putting it down to dodgy discs, but neither apparently willing to fork out for the repair of the consoles.

FFXIII scored a 9.2 in CVGs review - read why here.
