SOCOM 4 has been delayed until 2011, developer Zipper has confirmed.
The Move-enabled shooter was originally scheduled for a 2010 release, around the same time-frame as Sony's upcoming motion peripheral.
However, Zipper confirmed rumors of a delay on the Socom blog: "Some of you may have heard through your favorite media outlets that Socom 4 is now a 2011 title, and we are writing this letter to you, our community, to confirm that Socom 4 is indeed scheduled for release in 2011," it said.
The team placed a positive spin on the delay by assuring SOCOM faithfuls that the slip will enable the team to "deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM" game yet.
"While we're certainly aware that you've been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don't want to take any shortcuts," it said. "Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we're going to use our extra time to do just that."
Early demonstrations of SOCOM were promising - see for yourself.
