Blizzard's mystery MMO is an entirely new IP, and is getting an "enormous" investment.
That's according to Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, who revealed the news in the publisher's Q2 earnings call last night.
Kotick likened the investment into the new title to that going into Bungie's mammoth ten-year Activision-published franchise.
"Remember, we have two enormous investments," said Kotick. "One in Bungie and the other in another project at Blizzard that we haven't given a lot of visibility to. Those are going to be entirely new intellectual properties.
"But with the recognition that the way to build them is take long amounts of time, lots of capable talent, an enormous amount of capital and you have to have a real roadmap for innovation and creativity. And I think that those are going to be two very good examples from the ground up original ideas."
Very little is known about the MMO. News on its existence first broke in 2007 - leading to speculation that Blizzard was working on a StarCraft MMO title.
Those rumours have now been laid to rest. Guess we'll have to wait for Kotick and co. to give them a bit more of what he calls 'visibility'.
