Gaijin Game's has finally lifted the lid on Bit.Trip Fate, the latest in the ingenious retro-modern rhythm-action WiiWare series from Gaijin Games.
It's a scrolling shooter (or 'shmup'), which sees the series protagonist, CommanderVideo, restricted to movement along what looks like a sound wave to dodge incoming swarms of bullets, and return a few shots of his own.
You move CommanderVideo along the line with the Nunchuk, while aiming your fire with the Wii Remote's Pointer. Collectible power-ups call on CV's friends for enhanced firepower, there'll be guest appearances from other WiiWare characters Super Meat Boy and Mr. Robotube, and the soundtrack is dubstep. Sold, much?
Bit.Trip Fate is the fifth game in a planned series of six retro-style rhythm-based action games starring blocky hero CommanderVideo.
Fate was announced for an autumn release on WiiWare, but the official website just says "soon". Below is the first trailer of the game in action.
