EA: 'No significant backlash' to Online Pass

Fans not particularly up in arms over multiplayer charges

You'd think gamers would be going mental about EA's Online Pass initiative, which charges buyers of used EA Sports titles $10 for access to its multiplayer modes. But apparently not, according to EA.

EA chief financial officer Eric Brown says there's been "no significant" backlash to the new system, which was designed both to discourage and monetise second-hand game sales, as well as offer a way to fund the expenses of running online gaming servers.

"There's been no significant pushback from the user," said Brown. "People know bandwidth isn't free, so the fact that we're diffusing online costs isn't seen as unreasonable."

What do you think?
