Microsoft will launch a smartphone app-based game called Fable III Kingmaker later this week.
An advert in the latest issue of Xbox World, which landed on our desk today, confirms that the app will tie into Fable III by allowing you to earn 'gold' you can spend in the full Xbox 360 game.
"The kingdom of Albion is in turmoil," it reads. "Two rival armies are fighting for total dominion: the tyrant king's Royals and the revolutionary Rebels. And now the battle has spilled onto the wretched streets of Great Britain! For this is where the wondrous world of Fable meets the real world. Where the battleground is your town, and your only weapon is your smartphone."
So how the devil does it all work?
"Well, citizen. Your mission, should you be foolish enough to accept it, is to plant virtual flags for the Royals or the Rebels, and claim power-ups in locations throughout the United Kingdom... For every flag you plant, and every power up you claim, you shall earn gold coins, which you shall then be able to transfer into the Fable III game on your Xbox 360!"
Fable III Kingmaker's website suggests the game will launch this Friday, October 1.
Fable III's set to hit shelves on October 26. Earlier today Microsoft released a new developer diary featuring interviews with the game's all-star cast.
