Sega has officially confirmed it's working on a new Captain America game for release on all major platforms in 2011 - and the screenshots carry more than a bit of influence from Rocksteady classic Arkham Asylum.
Entitled Captain America: Super Soldier, it's a third-person action romp putting you in the shoes of the legendary shield-wielding Marvel man as he battles the Red Skull and his minions.
"Wielding Captain America's legendary shield, gamers will engage in free-flowing combat and acrobatic platforming to infiltrate Hydra's mysterious castle and battle the infamous Iron Cross, the forces of Hydra, and a host of nefarious enemies serving the Red Skull," explains Sega.
Sega promises "a highly athletic combat system with fluid platforming and a highly tuned suite of shield attacks," as you fight your way through a "massive castle-turned-military installation".
The game's original story will be penned by comic, film, and TV writer Christos Gage, the primary writer for the Marvel's Avengers: The Initiative series of comics, for those of you who get excited over such things.
We'll quietly reserve our excitement until after the first playtest.
