Bungie's seemingly dropped a major hint that its new multiplatform project will feature a persistent MMO-style world.
Speaking at Game Developers Conference Online 2010, creative director James Staten was asked about the studio's next franchise, which is due to be published by Activision.
"Wouldn't it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you?" was all he would say, according to Gamasutra news director Leigh Alexander's Twitter.
It's not the first time Bungie's next franchise has been rumoured to be an MMO shooter.
Back at E3 Activision COO Thomas Tippl fanned the flames by telling IGN: "Bungie wouldn't have signed if they didn't come to the conclusion that we have by far the best online capability between what we've be doing in Call of Duty and the expertise and institutional knowledge that sits at Blizzard."
Let the speculation commence.
