Witcher 2 unaffected by CD Projekt shake-up

Studio's co-founders resign, but no projects "threatened or postponed"

The co-founders of Polish developer and publisher CD Projekt are to resign their management positions, but the company's game projects will not be affected by the move.

Having set up the firm - which publishes the Witcher and owns Good old Games - in 1994, CEO Michal Kicinski and business development director Marcin Iwinski are said to be taking a step back for some relaxation time.

"Both Marcin and Michal have resigned from the positions they held, however they have not left the company," CD Projekt spokesperson Hubert Habas told GI.biz.

The resignations follow CD Projekt's acquisition by Polish PC firm Optimus in 2009.

"They wanted to step back and relax after very busy last period, after finalising the venture with Optimus and other strategic projects and simply decided to take a longer leave in order to restore energy and to avoid being burned out," Habas added.

"Every company inside CD Projekt group has their own management working independently from the owners. Therefore neither company nor its projects are threatened or postponed."

A four minute Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings gameplay movie featuring a topless damsel in distress hit the net last month.
